A great thing to do prior to working with another person, is to meet their partner. And if they have none- discuss how they handled an intense problem in their life.
Stability of mind is cultivated over time through experience. If you work with someone who is a not seasoned in this regard and/or grounded- all bets are off on how they are going to react when trouble comes knocking.
